Please use the main entrance in front of the Smith Center for events and auditions The Music Department’s mission is to foster cognitive, critical, analytical thinking, and aesthetic appreciation through the study of music, and to develop musical performance skills to the highest level of students’ capabilities. The Music Department defines part of its mission to assist students to study, to hear, and to perform music with intelligence and understanding within the spirit of an art that transcends analysis. Courses of study are designed to provide a strong grounding in music history, theory, literature and performance, all, of which, call into practice skills of analytical perception and critical analysis that are necessary for academic disciplines. The program is a broad experience of the various aspects of music history, music theory, performance, and ensemble participation within the liberal arts context of the College. View Course RequirementsBachelor of Arts in Music Technology and Production The Bachelor of Arts in music technology and production is a specialized major where you will learn how to produce professional-quality music, as well as gain hands-on experience using music hardware and software technology, all while acquiring an understanding of the music industry. View Course RequirementsBachelor of Arts in Music Education The Bachelor of Arts in music education balances the liberal arts program of the College with the requirements for both the music and education departments for the certification process in music education. All PC students in Music Education, K-12, have found jobs teaching all over the country after graduation. View Course RequirementsBachelor of Arts in Liturgical Music The major in Liturgical College is inherently a portrayal of interdisciplinarity drawing from both theology and music. With concentrations primarily in voice or keyboards (organ and piano), the major prepares students with a liberal arts degree to serve as church musician and/or continue studies at the graduate level. A successful professional in musical theatre must possess skills in acting, voice, music, and dance, and be able to integrate these skills with ease, expressiveness, and versatility.
